Mat’o Homola on top in Salzburgring warm-up

Mat’o Homola was fastest in the 15 minute morning warm-up session for the FIA European Touring Car Cup at the Salzburgring, setting a time of 1:29.452 in his turbocharged BMW 320 TC, leading the two normally aspirated BMWs of Petr Fulín and Milovan Vesnic.

The test took place in sunny conditions, but the times were seconds off of yesterday’s qualifying pace, with the teams focussing on their race set-ups which will take place later this afternoon.

Homola will start from second on the grid after being promoted one spot last night due to the exclusion of previous pole-sitter Nikolay Karamyshev who was found to be underweight. Karamyshev was fourth fastest in the warm-up, a second down on Homola’s time, with his Campos Racing team-mate Igor Skuz seventh fastest.

The quickest of the of Single-Make Trophy cars was Dmitry Bragin in 11th overall, with Ulrike Krafft the fastest of the Super 1600 cars in 20th.
