Peter Rikli wins dry-to-wet first race at Nürburgring

Swiss driver Peter Rikli won the first ADAC Procar race at the Nürburgring, a race which went from dry to wet conditions. Rikli has not raced in the series since 2012 but managed to beat Mini driver Joachim Schirra in his S2000 specification Honda Civic.

Rikli and Schirra fought hard for the victory in the early part of the race, with the lead being changed several times between the two. But Rikli managed to pull away towards the end of the race to win the overall race and Division 1 by close to nine seconds.

Johannes Leidinger crossed the line in third position, heading Ford Fiesta colleague and championship leader Heiko Hammel in fourth position.

Division 2 saw class championship leader Alexander Rambow winning in style, over 17 seconds ahead of the closest competitor in the form of Yuri Krautschuk in second position. Regular front runner Andreas Rinke had to sit out the race due to a broken gearbox.

Steve Kirsch claimed the honors in Division 3 in his Mini, winning the class by a massive 24 seconds. The victory jumped Kirsch into the class championship lead, six points ahead of Thomas Tekaat who is not taking part in this race weekend. Kirsch won the race ahead of Kai Jordan who sits in third position in the championship, 28 points behind Kirsch.

The second race of the weekend starts tomorrow at 14.25 CET with a decider for the title of Division 1 and 3 possible.
