Fredrik Lestrup clinches double victory at Oschersleben

Fredrik Lestrup made it two out of two in the second race of the 2015 ADAC Procar season opener at Oschersleben. The Swede started from pole position and held the lead throughout the race to win by close to 17 seconds ahead of Heiko Hammel.

”It was a bit easier today and I could control the race directly. The only problem is that when you are in the lead on your own, you start to think too much and hear all kinds of noises,” said Lestrup who has claimed the championship lead.

Hammel crossed the line in second place, despite having problems with a wheel bearing on his Ford Fiesta during the race. Johannes Leidinger completed the podium, making it two Fords in the top three.

Earlier in the race it looked like Reinhard Nehls would grab the final podium spot until he had to retire with a fuel supply problem in his Mini JCW on the penultimate lap.

Division 2 saw a fight for the lead between Andreas Rinke and Matthias Meyer. The two switched places several times, but with Rinke fighting back towards the end of the race and claimed the victory ahead of Meyer.

Steve Kirsch won Division 3 just as yesterday, winning the race ahead of Dirk Lauth and Nils Ballerstein. While Kirsch was on his own in the lead, the fight was hard for second place between Lauth and Ballerstein.

Lauth claimed second place early on in the race while Ballerstein lost third to Bernhard Wagner. Ballerstein fought back past Wagner and gained on Lauth. But Ballerstein was never able to get past and had to settle for third.

Lestrup heads Division 1 on 23 points ahead of Hammel on 17 points. Meyer leads Division 2 on 20 points with Rinke just one point behind in second. Kirsch is on his own on 24 points in the Division 3 lead with Ballerstein second on 14 points.

ADAC Procar continues on June 5-7th at Zolder in Belgium.
