Rikli Motorsport to run two Honda Civic TCRs in ETCC TCN2

Long-standing ETCC competitors Rikli Motorsport have confirmed they will switch from the TC2 class to the new TCN2 category for 2016, after ordering a pair of ninth-generation Honda Civic TCRs (FK2s) from JAS Motorsport to replace their eighth generation Honda Civic FD2s, with Peter Rikli and Kris Richard signed to drive.

Rikli, 46, who has competed in the ETCC since 2010, will be back behind the wheel with 21-year-old Kris Richard as his new team-mate, replacing Daniel Conrad at the team.

“This is a very exciting period in the history of Rikli Motorsport,” said team principal Erwin Rikli at the team’s 2016 launch in Switzerland. “Not only have we purchased two TCN2-specification Honda Civics, we’ve also signed a very promising driver in Kris Richard, who will benefit enormously from Peter’s considerable experience and expertise.”

In 2016, the TCN2 class will become the new merged top tier of the ETCC, shared with previous generation Super 2000 TC2T and TC2 cars, replacing what was the Single-Make Trophy class which was previously reserved for the SEAT Leon Cup Racer.
