Kris Richard pips Fabio Mota in ETCC free practice

Kris Richard demoted Fabio Mota just under the flag in this morning’s free practice, putting the Honda Civic TCR on top of the timing sheets. The SEAT driver came home ahead of Lema Racing team-mate Igor Stefanovski, with championship leader Petr Fulin in fifth behind Peter Rikli’s Honda.

The Czech had initially set the pace, but was demoted by Stefanovski and subsequently by Mota. With ten minutes to go, it was time for Peter Rikli to improve as the Swiss jumped up to third, leaving the championship leader just ahead of Krenek Motorsport team-mate Christjohannes Schreiber.

Kris Richard improved just under the flag in his Honda Civic TCR by as little as 0.082s. Mladen Lalusic finished seventh ahead of fellow SEAT driver Norbert Nagy. Wolfgang Kriegl was the last S2000 competitor in ninth, with S1600 pace setter Niklas Mackschin tenth outright.

Fulin received several warnings from race control due to track limits infringements, which eventually led him to a black/white flag issued by the stewards.

The Fia European Touring Car Cup will be back on track at 12.10 for Qualifying.
