Petr Fulín comfortably fastest in Magny-Cours free practice session

Krenek Motorsport’s Petr Fulín was fastest of all in the Saturday morning free practice session ahead of qualifying for the ninth and tenth rounds of the 2016 European Touring Car Cup at Magny-Cours.

Fulín’s time of 1:49.421 in his SEAT León TCR was over half a second clear of his title rival and championship leader Kris Richard in the Rikli Motorsport Honda Civic TCR.

Norbert Nagy made a late improvement in the session to go third fastest in the Zengő Motorsport SEAT León Cup Racer, with the Honda of Peter Rikli completing the top four.

ETCC debutant Pierre-Etienne Chaumat was fifth fastest in his JSB Competition-run SEAT León Cup Racer, with the TCR-spec SEATs of Christjohannes Schreiber, Fabio Mota and Mladen Lalusic completing the top eight and all of the Super 2000 Trophy entrants.

Kevin Hilgenhövel was fastest of all in the Super 1600 Cup class in his ETH Tuning Peugeot 207, 15 seconds slower than the pace of the fastest TCN2-class car. Hilgenhövel led S1600 points leader and presumptive champion Niklas Mackschin’s Ford Fiesta by just over a tenth of a second.

Qualifying is next and takes place at 15:00 CET.
