Andreas Rinke tests Peugeot 308 Racing Cup in prep for TCN2 switch

Andreas Rinke tested one of Peugeot Sport’s new 308 Racing Cup cars during the most recent weekend of the European Touring Car Cup at Magny-Cours. The 30-year-old German hopes the ETH Tuning squad can make the switch from their Super 1600 class Peugeot 207 and make the jump to the S2000 Trophy class with the 308 Racing Cup next year.

ETH Tuning have campaigned their 207 Sport in the ETCC’s S1600 class this season after previously competing in the ADAC Procar Series’ Division 2 class, and would hope to be able to stick with the French brand with a switch to their new 308 Racing Cup, which is eligible for the ETCC’s TCN2 class as well as the various TCR series across the world.

“It was a nice feeling, a very nice car,” said Rinke. “I hope we buy one or two cars and I drive in the ETCC in the first class (next season). The pace from the car, the feeling in the corners is very, very good.”

The 308 Racing Cup car made its first sporting appearance at the TCR race at Spa-Francorchamps driven by Jimmy Clairet and Gregoire Guilvert, before Teddy Clairet and David Pouget took over for the car’s ETCC debut at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife where it had a more competitive outing, with Teddy Clairet scoring a podium result for the team in Race 1.
