Frédéric Caprasse excluded from Assen Race 2 for contact

DG Sport Opel driver Frédéric Caprasse has been excluded from Race 2 at Assen for “unsportsmanlike and aggressive behaviour”, meaning Stéphane Lémeret’s championship lead is undented after failing to finish the race.

Caprasse had already been handed a 30-second penalty for a jump start which was set to drop him to eighth position, but the exclusion means the six points the Belgian had picked up have now been wiped out, restoring Boutsen-Ginion Honda driver Lémeret’s championship lead to 31.5 points.

Meindert van Buuren was given a three-place grid drop for the next race, where his car will be driven by Marcel Dekker, for an avoidable collision.
