Team WRT confirm Maxime Potty and Mathieu Detry for 2017

Team WRT have confirmed the drivers for 2017’s TCR Benelux season, with Maxime Potty remaining with the team, joined by 20-year-old Mathieu Detry behind the wheel of the team’s Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR.

17-year-old Belgian Maxime Potty remains with the team, and after a host of different co-drivers in 2016 including Ronnie Latinne, Stefano Comini, Loriz Hezemans and Grégoire Demoustier, he will be joined by Mathieu Detry this year, who raced for Ferry Monster Autosport last season.

“The goal has always been to continue with WRT,” said Potty. “Last year, I was a real beginner and are gradually found speed. I look forward to working with my new team-mate, he’s young too, and I am confident that we will help each other to win for WRT and Volkswagen.”

Detry finished 15th in the overall standings with three best-placed finishes of fourth, is also looking forward to the new season with the International Series-winning team.

“I’m super-happy,” said the 20-year-old. “Frankly, I could not ask for more. The TCR Benelux championship is clearly where I wanted to compete full time…not only am I committed to the championship, but also in one of the most prestigious teams and with Maxime as my team-mate, we will be a duo of very young drivers, but it is clear that we have not come to make up the numbers.”

The TCR Benelux season gets underway on April 22nd at Spa-Francorchamps.
