European Touring Car Cup 2006
The second FIA European Touring Car Cup will be held at Estoril in Portugal this year. The organisers are expecting a grid with up to 40 cars. The event will be held on October the 21st and 22nd. Just as last year two titles will be awarded, one for Super 2000 cars and one for Super Production cars.
New for this year is a nations cup. This title will be awarded to the National Sporting Authority (ASN) whose drivers have scored the highest number of points in the two races. Like for the drivers, points will be awarded according to the following scale: 10 points to the first classified, 8 points to the second, 6 points to the third, 5 points to the fourth, 4 points to the fifth, 3 points to the sixth, 2 points to the seventh and 1 point to the eighth.
Two practice sessions of 30 minutes each will be run on Satuday followed by qualifying of 30 minutes. On Sunday two races of 50 kilometers each will be run and the first race result decides the grid for race two with top eight in reverse order. Eurosport will cover the race just as last year.
No teams have confirmed their participation yet, but stay tuned for more information on the subject!
The reigning champions are:
– Super 2000: Rickard Göransson (SWE – BMW 320i)
– Super Production: Lorenzo Falessi (ITA – Alfa Romeo 147)
