STCC-drivers to ETC Cup

ETC Cup is held at Estoril in October this year. The Cup was started last year when Swede Richard Göransson took the title ahead of Jason Plato and Alessandro Zanardi. For this year we have a number of drivers from Sweden that will take part in the race. So far only one driver is confirmed – Carl Rosenblad.

WTCC press officer Fabio Ravaioli visited the STCC weekend at Knutstorp. He was at the track to promote the ETC Cup. So far only Carl Rosenblad has confirmed that he will take part in the event.

Last year four drivers from Sweden participated in the race – Tomas Engström, Richard Göransson, Thed Björk and Johan Stureson. For this year the organizers are expecting even more drivers from Sweden.

“We expect around six or seven cars from Sweden. Rosenblad is the only driver to confirm, but I have spoken to several other teams that are interested but haven’t made their decision yet. Mostly it is up to their budget if they will come or not,” Fabio Ravaioli said.

Reigning ETC Cup champions West Coast Racing are interested in returning to the race. Driver Robin Rudholm commented the matter:

“We are of course interested in participating. But it is too early yet to say anything. We are working on getting sponsors for the event and I am hopefull that we can go to the race,” Rudholm said.

Other teams that have expressed their interest are Volvo (Dahlgren, Storckenfeldt), Opel (Karlsson), Honda (Engström), Peugeot (Stureson, Söderberg) BMW (Göransson, Flash) and Audi (Björk, Kristoffersson, Ekblom).

Audi team boss Tommy Kristoffersson is interested in the team but has not made any decision.

“It would be very nice to participate in this race. But the decision is up to Audi Germany. We haven’t got the budget to go by our self,” Kristoffersson said.
