Plato & Rosenblad set for ETC Cup

The first two entries to the 2006 FIA European Touring Car Cup in Estoril came from serious pretenders: Jason Plato and Carl Rosenblad (as we reported earlier).

Plato, 38 year-old from Oxford, will be racing a SEAT León for the colours of SEAT Sport UK. The Englishman is currently placed third in the British Touring Car Championship, having claimed five victories so far. Plato also took part in last year’s ETC Cup at Vallelunga, winning Race 2 and classifying second in the S2000 Cup behind Rickard Göransson from Sweden.

Rosenblad, 37 year-old from Lund, committed to the Swedish Touring Car Championship after spending two seasons in the FIA ETCC (2004) and WTCC (2005) as a top-runner for the Independents’ Trophy. In the STCC he is racing a Elgh Motorsport BMW 320si, the same car he will drive at Estoril.

Except for the two confirmed entries, there are alot of expected and rumored entries. About seven cars are expected to join the race from Sweden, read more about that here

SEAT are expected to enter at least another three cars of which Thompson should drive one of the cars. Chevrolet Germany are believed to enter both of their cars. Some cars from the Danish championship are reported to be working on entering the race.

Stay tuned for more information!
