WCR working hard for ETC Cup
STCC team West Coast Racing is in the hot seat for entering the ETC Cup at Estoril next weekend. TouringCarTimes received information about the team being on the entry list for the race. Team boss Dick Jönsson-Wigroth and driver Robin Rudholm commented on the matter.
“We are working flat out at the moment. There is nothing confirmed yet for the race, but we are most certainly hoping to get to the race,” Jönsson-Wigroth said.
Driver for the race will be Robin Rudholm who finished sixth in the STCC drivers championship after a season filled with bad luck and mistakes.
“Often you get the feeling after the season final that it will be nice with a break. But not for me this year, I could have done ten more races,” Rudholm said.
If the team makes it to Estoril, Rudholm will be the only driver. His team mate in STCC this year, Duncan Huisman, will not drive ETC Cup according to team boss Jönsson-Wigroth. Rudholm on the other hand is more than ready for the race at Estoril.
“As Dick (Jönsson-Wigroth) said, we are working very hard. I would very much enjoy driving the race and continue my racing season. The race looks good this year and it will be great fun,” Rudholm said.
The team and Rudholm is working on their plans for STCC next year. The goal is to be on the grid next year with the newer BMW 320si E90-model.
“I have no other goals but to continue with WCR. But there are many things that have to fall into place. We cannot continue with the E46-model since it is getting too old. We need the E90, but that is a big investment. But I do hope to be on the grid again next year with WCR,” Rudholm said.
