Robin Rudholm confirms ETC entry
West Coast Racing will defend their ETC Cup title at Estoril next weekend. The trailers leave for the race on Sunday and Robin Rudholm will join the team as they arrive in Portugal.
“I felt after the STCC-finale that I wasn’t finished with the season,” Rudholm said.
“The ambition is to defend the title and I think we have good chances to do that,” said WCR team boss Dick Jönsson-Wigroth.
The BMW 320i E46 is repainted in black/red and with the Swedish flag on the rood for the 3000 kilometre long trip to Estoril.
“I am a patriot, so of course we will show the spectators where we come from,” Jönsson-Wigroth said.
While team boss Jönsson-Wigroth has visited the track before, it is a totally new experience for Rudholm.
“I am glad to get the opportunity to get more driving done and to meet the international competition. We think Estoril will suit both the car and me very well. I have prepared my self by studying the track,” Rudholm said.
One of Rudholm’s old friends from his previous racing in the UK, Ryan Sharp, will also take part in the event.
“We raced a lot a couple of years ago in Formula Renault, and I won over him most of the times,” Rudholm said with a smile.
Rudholm joins STCC-drivers Carl Rosenblad and Tomas Engström in the ETC Cup entry list. The BMW-driver aims to beat them both and team boss Jönsson-Wigroth is equally confident.
“We’re going down to the race with the ambition to do a good job. When our partners believe in us and supports us, we can’t do anything else but to go for it to the max,” Jönsson-Wigroth said.
