Nykjær win after fight with Göransson

Michel Nykjær won the first ETC Cup race at Salzburgring ahead of Richard Göransson after a race long fight! Nykjær held pole but was passed by Göransosn early on. The duo changed positions several times, but the Dane came out on top at the end of the race.

A mere 0.190 seconds separated the both over the finish line and Göransson enjoyed the race.
“We had a really good fight! I think I was a bit quicker, but Nykjær managed to slipstream back every time I got past him,” said Göransson.

Third was SEAT-man Oscar Nogués, climbing from sixth on the grid. The Spaniard was involved in two different incidents. Nogués turned Franz Engstler around in the first corner and Honda-driver Tomas Engström spun off the track after a hard figth with the SEAT-driver. The stewards have the later incident under investigation.

Kristian Poulsen claimed fourth place with Cesar Campanico fifth. Jens Möller crossed the line sixth ahead of Finnish BMW-driver Mikko Eskelinen.

Jan Nilsson finished eight and will hold pole position in the second race. The Flash Engineering-driver was turned around in the first corner by Engstler but fought back from 15th position after the spin.

The second race starts at 15.00 and will have a top eight reversed grid order and standing start, stay tuned!
