Braga, Portugal, to host ETC Cup 2009

The FIA European Touring Car Cup will be held at the Portuguese track Braga next year. The FIA announced that the race will be held on the 17th of October 2009. In 2008 the race was held at Salzburgring, Austria, which saw the Dane Michel Nykjaer taking his second consecutive title.

Circuito Vasco Sameiro at Braga is 2.98 kilometers long and is located in the north of Portugal. The track was constructed in 1990 and has recently mainly hosted national races.

2009 will be the fifth year of FIA ETC Cup. The first race in 2005 was held at Vallelunga when the Swede Richard Göransson won.

In 2006 Portugal was host for the race at Estoril when Ryan Sharp won. Adria, Italy, hosted the race in 2007 when Michel Nykjaer took his first title.
