Michelisz takes last second pole
Norbert Michelisz has taken pole position for the 2009 European Touring Car Cup in his SEAT Leon TDI. The Eurocup champion put in a last second flyer on a drying circuit to jump ahead of WTCC driver Franz Engstler’s BMW.
The Bamboo Engineering Chevrolets continued their form seen in morning practice, and locked out the second row, with Da Costa leading BTCC racer Harry Vaulkhard.
Event favourites James Thompson and Michael Nykjaer qualified 6th and 8th respectively.
Maurer Motorsport driver Vincent Radermacker was unable to compete in practice or qualifying due to problems with his Chevrolet Lacetti, and will need to apply for dispensation to start the race.
