Michaël Rossi aims for ETCC title
French driver Michaël Rossi is heading for the European Touring Car Cup premiere at Braga in Portugal this weekend with SUNRED Engineering.
“I’m going to race in three championships with the same team and the same engineer and the same race number,” said Rossi.
Other than the ETCC, Rossi is taking part in the SEAT Eurocup and the French version of it, creating a busy season for Spaniard.
“Only one weekend poses a problem, the one in october when the final round of the Seat Leon Supercopa France clashes with the ETCC final,” said Rossi.
While Rossi is aiming to clinch the ETCC title this year, it depends on how the season progresses on which race he is going to choose in october.
“Our decision will depend on my position in the two championships, and I hope it won’t be an easy one!” said Rossi.
Rossi was at first supposed to drive one round in the FIA World Touring Car Championship as a prize for being awarded the “Best driver of the weekend” at Imola last year.
But instead Rossi was asked by SEAT to swap the WTCC round for a full season in ETCC.
“In the ETCC, I’ll have to get to grips with a Leon that’s quicker with a more evolved chassis. I’ve already seen a few very tough rivals on the entry list, but I’m feeling pretty confident!” said Rossi.
