James Thompson wins Braga race one

James Thompson headed a Hartmann Honda Racing 1-2 with team mate Tomas Engström second. Kristian Poulsen followed closely and finished third, just 0.889 seconds behind Thompson after 17 laps around the Portuguese track.

Thompson took command early and headed in to the first corner as leader with César Campaniço and Poulsen right behind.

Thompson was unable to break free from the chasing BMW-drivers and it was not until his team mate Engström was able to fight up in to second that he could relax.

But the race nearly ended in the gravel for Thompson as he came close to become a victim of Campaniço’s overtaking maneuver on Poulsen. But Campaniço was later passed again by Poulsen, who in his turn tried hard to get past Engström for second in the final laps.
