Thompson tops first Salzburgring test

James Thompson was fastest in the first test session of the FIA European Touring Car Cup weekend at Salzburgring. Just five S2000 specification cars took part in the session, three Hondas and two SEATs.

Swedish Honda driver Tomas Engström was second fastest, over a second behind his previous team mate Thompson.

Michael Rossi was third fastest, a further two tenths behind, in the petrol powered SEAT Léon. The diesel powered SEAT Léon of Michel Nykjær only managed to complete two laps before entering the pits again with turbo problems.

Local driver Wolfgang Treml was fourth fastest, 2.272 seconds slower than his team mate Thompson.
