Hertner strikes back and retakes series lead

Roland Hertner won the second race at the Salzburgring, again in wet conditions, and reclaimed the lead of the championship from junior team mate Leidinger.

Hertner started from second behind race one winner Andrii Kruglyk, but where Kruglyk excelled in the first race in the wet, the Ukrainian was caught out by the conditions in the first chicane, allowing Hertner through into the lead, where he never looked back.

Hertner lead a Liqui-Moly Team Engstler 1-2-3-4 across the line, a totally dominating result for the team getting all four cars in the top four positions.

Hertner now leads the championship with 75 points from team-mate Johannes Leidinger, with Florian Spengler close behind in third with 68 points.

Mayer and Kruglyk’s strong results in their few races has catapulted them to fourth and fifth in the standings.

In Division 2, the race win went to Ralf Glatzel again, who now leads Guido Theirfelder in the standings by six points.

Division 3 was won by Matthias Kaul, who finished in fifth overall in his Opel Astra GTC, but Alf Ahrens leads the championship in Division 3 by four points from Andreas Kast.
