Nykjaer takes double victory in ETCC
Michel Nykjaer took both wins in the ETCC at the Salzburgring today, finishing ahead of Hartmann Honda driver James Thompson – who extends his lead in the standings.
The podium result from race one was repeated again, with Tomas Engström finishing third, and local driver Wolfgang Treml repeating his fourth place from race one.
Michaël Rossi, who retired on the first lap in race one after contact with Ibrahim Okyay’s BMW, finished fifth in the second SUNRED Engineering SEAT.
Thompson takes 16 points from the weekend, and leaves with 32 points in the standings with the final round taking place at Franciacorta in Italy in October.
His closest rival is Tomas Engström, with 22 points, whilst Nykjaer’s strong result in his first event catapults him to third in the standings with 20 points.
