Thompson on fire in third test

James Thompson found another eight tenths of a second in the third test session at Franciacorta to be over 1.3 seconds ahead of Nykjaer’s SEAT León TDI.

Thompson, the European Touring Car Cup points leader, who just needs to finish ahead of Engström and Nykjær in race one to secure the title, went faster in the third test session, setting a best lap of 1:16.056 at the Italian circuit in his Hartmann Honda run Accord Euro-R.

Michel Nykjaer was second fastest, setting a 1:17.393 in his diesel powered León run by SUNRED Engineering.

Vojislav Lekić was the only driver in the Super Production class to set a time in the session, and was sixth fastest overall in the AK Djelmas Sport run Honda Civic Type-R.

Carsten Seifert was fastest in the Super 1600 category in the NK Racing run Ford Fiesta ST, despite missing half of the session.

Not all drivers entered for the event chose to take part in the third test session, with another free practice session scheduled before qualifying this afternoon.
