ADAC Procar heads to Zolder this weekend

The German S2000 touring car championship, the ADAC Procar series, will race at the Belgian Zolder circuit this weekend, with Liqui-Moly Team Engstler driver Johannes Leidinger holding a 11 point lead in the championship from Peter Rikli.

The series visits the Belgian circuit for the first time this weekend, and the Engstler Motorsport team will certainly have an advantage on set-up having raced there for the past two years in the FIA World Touring Car Championship.

The 24-year-old Johannes Leidinger will be running with an additional 60kg of penalty ballast in his BMW 320si E90, whilst Jens Weimann will be carrying 40kg in the Thate Motorsport BMW and Peter Rikli 30kg in his Honda Civic.

The S2000 Division 1 class will be one car shorter this weekend with the absence of 20-year-old Swiss driver Lorenz Frey. The series rookie severely damaged his Yaco Racing Toyota Auris in qualifying at the last meeting at the Sachsenring, and so the team will be just running one car for Russian Michail Stepanov this weekend.

In Division 2 (1.6 litre), Nils Mierschke leads the points standings in his Leipert Motorsport Ford Fiesta ST with 34 points, three points clear of last year’s Division 2 champion Guido Thierfelder’s ETH Tuning Peugeot 207 Sport.

Qualifying will take place at 16:00 CET on Saturday, with the two races held back-to-back on Sunday, also at 16:00 CET.
