Tomas Engström wants the ETC Cup gold

Tomas Engström has been second once and third twice in the European Touring Car Cup. The Honda driver wants to change that to a gold this weekend.
“The goal is victory but it is going to be tough. There are good cars and drivers in it this year,” said Engström.

The ETC Cup features a rather strong top of the field this year with Michel Nykjær in a Chevrolet Cruze and Fabrizio Giovanardi in a Honda Accord, just like Engström.
“Nykjær is going to be dangerous. Giovanardi is incredibly quick. It is going to be really tough,” said Engström.

The Austrian high sped track Salzburgring hosts the ETC Cup this year for the third time, a track that Engström likes.
“It is a fun track with long sweeping corners, providing a good rhythm. And it is incredibly fast, I had 247 km/h in top speed last year,” said Engström.

The weather forecast predicts rain for the ETC Cup weekend in Austria, something Engström welcomes.
“Then it is going to be even more exciting and rain is no disadvantage for us,” said Engström.
