Tomas Engström quickest in Friday test

Swedish driver led a Honda 1-2 at the Salzburgring in the Friday afternoon test session, with the first session run in wet conditions.

Engström was quickest in the second session in his Honda Accord Euro R, three-tenths of a second faster than the Hartmann Honda Racing Accord of Fabrizio Giovanardi. Giovanardi had mastered the conditions earlier and was fastest in the wet opening test, though only eight cars ventured out.

Pepe Oriola was third in the SUNRED SEAT León TDI just three-thousandths of a second further back, with Michel Nykjaer fourth fastest in the Chevrolet Cruze.

Aleksander Tosic was the fastest driver in the Super Production category and tenth overall, whilst Erwin Lukas led the way in the Super 1600 class.

The next test session takes place tomorrow morning at 9:10 CET.
