Fabrizio Giovanardi on top in final practice

Fabrizio Giovanardi topped the final practice session ahead of qualifying at the European Touring Car Cup at Salzburgring in Austria. The Italian Honda driver was just under three tenths quicker than Chevrolet driver Michel Nykjær.

The session started with a light rain, but the end dried up completely, seeing the times dropping dramatically.

Mehdi Bennani was far behind in third, 1.275 seconds, with Ibrahim Okyay in fourth, an immense 1.232 seconds further behind.

Peter Rikli, Jens-Guido Weimann, Wolfgang Treml and Christian Fischer rounded off top eighth. Diesel SEAT driver Pepe Oriola only completed three slow laps while other front runner Tomas Engström did not take part at all in the session.
