Giovanardi heads warm up as Nykjær struggles

Fabrizio Giovanardi topped the lists once again as wet the morning warm up session was completed at Salzburgring. And Michel Nykjær continued to have problems with his Chevrolet Team Sweden prepared Cruze.

“We had the same problem as in qualifying, something is wrong in the coupling between the starter and the flywheel. And yet we had changed everything yesterday,” said Nicklas Karlsson, head of Chevrolet Team Sweden.

Giovanardi lapped the very wet track in 1:40.161, just 0.145 seconds ahead of SEAT driver Pepe Oriola.

The top three was identical from qualifying with Honda driver Tomas Engström in third, although 1.238 seconds behind Giovanardi.

Mehdi Bennani was best BMW driver in fourth ahead of Ibrahim Okyay and Christian Fischer. Peter Rikli and Wolfgang Treml rounded off top eighth.
