Double victory for Leidinger in Austria

Engstler driver Johannes Leidinger has extended his championship lead to 26 points over Jens Weimann after a double victory at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria.

This time leading from start to finish, the 2010 ‘Vice-champion’ held off Weimann’s BMW 320si to take victory in race two with a winning margin of just 0.402 seconds.

43-year-old Michail Stepanov took his third podium finish of the season for Yaco Racing with third in his Toyota Auris, though he was not in touch with the top BMW pair, just over 41 seconds down after 12 laps.

Christian Fischer was the only other driver classified in the Super 2000 Division 1 class after the retirement of team-mate Peter Rikli, and the non-start in race two for Lorenz Frey, Matthias Kaul and Andreas Kast.

Nils Mierschke took another victory in Division 2, finishing ahead of Guido Thierfelder and reducing the Peugeot driver’s lead in the Division 2 class to just six points.

Leidinger’s sixth victory however sees the Liqui-Moly Team Engstler driver leave Austria with a 26 point lead but with 60 points to be gained from the remaining six rounds. the ADAC Procar series next visits the Lausitzring on September 4th.
