Jens Weimann wins race one at Hockenheim

Thate Motorsport’s Jens Weimann won the first race at the Hockenheim circuit, whilst Guido Thierfelder’s Division 2 win closes up the points standings.

Johannes Leidinger had started from pole position in the Liqui-Moly Team Engstler BMW 320si E90, but dropped behind Jens Weimann’s BMW on the first lap. The champion elect fought off the Honda Civic of Peter Rikli until lap six, when the Engstler driver was forced into the pits with an overheating problem and lost time.

Rikli was now promoted to second, with Honda team-mate Christian Fischer third, until Fischer was handed a 30 second penalty post race which promoted Charlie Geipel to the final podium spot on his series return in the Yaco Racing Toyota Auris.

In Division 2, Guido Thierfelder won the race in his ETH Tuning Peugeot 207 ahead of title rival Nils Mierschke’s Leipert Motorsport Ford Fiesta. Thierfelder is now just seven points behind Mierschke going into the final round with 10 points available.
