Igor Skuz will start from pole position at Salzburg
SUNRED Engineering driver Igor Skuz will start from pole position tomorrow despite team-mate Fernando Monje setting the fastest time due to an overhanging penalty from the last race in Slovakia.
The 35-year-old Ukrainian, who’s racing in only his second round of the Cup and this season and for his new team of SUNRED, was the closest to Monje in the session, with both drivers running in the SEAT León TDI.
Monje’s best lap of 1:29.453 on his first run effectively secured his ultimately best possible position off 11th, with the 19-year-old opting to sit out the rest of the 30 minute session. Igor Skuz meanwhile battled with Andreas Pfister in his SEAT León Supercopa for the second best time, with Skuz coming out on top with a time of 1:31.001.
Pfister will start ahead of Krenek Motorsport’s Petr Fulín in a BMW 320si for the race, with Single Make Trophy class rival Stian Paulsen in fifth.
The Super Production pole position went to Aleksander Tosic in the ASK Vitro Racing Honda Civic Type-R, with Kevin Krammes securing the Super 1600 pole in his Team Ravenol GENA Ford Fiesta.
The two races take place tomorrow from 15:55 CET following the World Touring Car Championship races.
