Krammes and Necchi fight for S1600 ETCC title

After the penultimate round of the 2012 FIA European Touring Car Cup in Austria, the fight in the most populated class in the field is now a two way battle between German driver Kevin Krammes and the Italian Paolo Necchi.

19-year-old German Krammes won the first five races of the 2012 ETCC in his Ravenol Team GENA Ford Fiesta, whilst the 39-year-old Italian Necchi took his first win of the season in race two at the Salzburgring to remain in contention for the Super 1600 title in the rival Ravenel Team SAN run car.

However, Necchi will have his work cut out for him at the finale at Imola next month, with Krammes leading by 17 points in the class with just 23 available. Necchi’s team-mate Ulrike Krafft, who finished runner-up in the S1600 class last year, is in third place but 37 points down on Krammes and is mathematically out of the race for the title.
