Nikolay Karamyshev wins ETCC Super Production

Aleksander Tosic’s withdrawal from this weekend’s round of the FIA European Touring Car Cup at Imola makes Russian driver Nikolay Karamyshev the default winner of the Super Production class, before the action has even begun.

Russian driver Karamyshev had a nine point lead over Tosic, the reigning Super Production class champion, in the Super Production standings. The two drivers have been fighting closely in the first three rounds of this year’s championship in their identical seventh generation Honda Civic Type-Rs.

The two drivers have so far been the only drivers competiting in the class in 2012, but despite Serbian driver Tosic’s withdrawal, Karamyshev won’t be on his own this weekend, with Fabio Fabiani, the reigning (and only) WTCC Jay-Ten champion entering his BMW 320i E46 this weekend at Imola.
