Petr Fulín fastest in pre-season testing

Czech driver Petr Fulín was fastest of all in testing ahead of the start of the 2013 FIA European Touring Car Cup at Monza. Fulín was almost a second and a half clear of Liqui Moly Team Engstler’s Christian Fischer in the two day test.

Fulín’s best lap in the normally aspirated BMW 320si of Krenek Motorsport was a 2:02.755, which was 1.5 seconds clear of Fischer’s best in the similar car run by Engstler Motorsport. Fulín’s new team-mate, Michal Matejovský, was third quickest over the two days.

Jordi Oriola was the fourth overall fastest driver, driving in the Tuenti Racing Team-run SEAT León Supercopa. Oriola was the only Supercopa-class car running during the test, outpacing the fastest S2000-spec SEAT of Campos Racing driver Igor Skuz.

Only two S1600 cars took part in the test. Ukrainian driver Anton Zaitsev was fastest in the Ford Fiesta 16v, just over four seconds faster than Ksenya Niks in the M-Sport Ford Fiesta ST.

The ETCC teams will have a full one hour test session on Friday ahead of the race meeting next weekend.
