ADAC Procar Series starts this weekend at Oschersleben

The 2013 ADAC Procar Series starts this weekend at Oschersleben. Germany’s touring car series for Super 2000 and Super 1600 cars will see 16 taking part in the first meeting of the season.

Last year’s dominant champion Jens Weimann will be back with his team Thate Motorsport with their BMW 320si, but his chief rival will certainly be 2011 champion Johannes Leidinger, returning with Liqui Moly Team Engstler after just a partial campaign last season. During his brief apperance at the end of the season, Leidinger was the only other driver to win a race in the S2000 class, preventing a perfect score for Weimann.

Liqui Moly Team Engstler will field a second BMW 320si for 26-year-old Michael Bräutigam, who with just a few races in the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup and the ADAC Cruze Cup behind him, will be on a learning year in the series.

Two Swiss drivers will also field cars with their own teams. Milenko Vukovic will compete with a BMW 320si with his squad Vukovic Motorsport, whilst Markus Huggler’s Huggler Motorsport will run an older BMW 320i E46.

RSK-Motorsport is the fifth and final entry in the S2000 class, meaning the category is an all Bavarian manufacturer affair this season. RSK’s driver will be Ardi Van der Hoek, embarking on his first season in the series.

In the more populated S1600 class, three different manufacturers are represented, with Guido Thierfelder returning to defend his title for ETH Tuning in his Peugeot 207 Sport.

ETH Tuning expand to a three car line-up for 2013, with Andreas Rinke joining Thierfelder in the #32 Peugeot and Austrian driver David Griessner in the #30 car.

Liqui Moly Team Engstler and RSK-Motorsport will also both enter teams in S1600 as well as S2000, with Julia Trampert returning for a second year in Engstler’s Ford Fiesta 1.6.

RSK-Motorsport will also field a Fiesta for Pascal Hoffmann, with the team’s second driver still to be confirmed.

Michael Kowalski will enter a Ford Fiesta for himself, whilst Olaf Müller will drive LAFIA Motorsport’s Citroën C2 VTS.

Glatzel Racing complete the S1600 class with three Ford Fiestas, with Ralf Glatzel behind the #42 car, another Fiesta for Belarussian driver Yury Krauchuk and their final driver to be announced.
