Class victories for Weimann and Griessner at Lausitzring
Jens Weimann claimed a superior victory in the first ADAC Procar race of the weekend at Lausitzring. The Thate Motorsport driver started from pole and was closely followed by championship rival Johannes Leidinger for the first part of the race.
As the race neared the end, Weimann started to pull away and with just over a minute left of the race, Leidinger pulled in to the pits with mechanical problems and retired from second place.
This meant that Mark Warnecke inherited second in the race, crossing the finishing line over 16 seconds behind race winner Weimann.
David Griessner won the Division 2 class in style, his eighth win of the season, over five seconds ahead of Yury Krauchuk in second place. Nils Mierschke claimed third and the final Division 2 podium finish.
There was drama in the Division 2 field at mid point of the race as Andreas Rinke spun to a halt in the first corner and Pascal Hoffmann was unable to avoid him. Hoffmann slammed in to the side of him, resulting in a retirement for the NK Racing driver while Rinke was able to continue.
