Leidinger wins season finale but with final results suspended

Johannes Leidinger won a thrilling last ADAC Procar race of the season at Hockenheim but was not allowed on to the podium to take the victory trophy due to the race one incident with title rival Jens Weimann.

Weimann was unable to start the race due to the damage from the first race crash, meaning a score of zero points from the season finale weekend. The Thate Motorsport driver had a lead of 14 points ahead of the weekend and with Leidinger scoring third in the first race and a victory in the second race, it would make Leidinger champion depending on the final decision by the stewards.

Regardless of the decision of the stewards, the fight for the top three positions in the final race was entertaining and lasting for the entire race.

Winkelhock started the race by almost stalling his BMW 320si, letting both Leidinger and Markus Huggler past.

The trio then switched positions all through the race, with hard contact at one point between Leidinger and Huggler on the run to the Mercedes arena. The contact resulted in the two going wide to the run-off area and Winkelhock going past the both.

Leidinger then fought his way to the lead on the penultimate lap, with Winkelhock finding him self under hard pressure from Huggler on the last lap. But the fight ended a couple of corners from the finish as Huggler spun on his own, recovering to finish third, nine seconds behind Winkelhock.

Andreas Rinke scored a second straight victory in Division 2 with his Citroën, but had to fight his way past Nils Mierschke in the first part of the race. Yury Krauchuck crossed the line in third ahead of Thomas Krebs and Ralf Glatzel.
