Comfortable win for Mikhail Grachev in Oschersleben

AMG Motorsport’s Mikhail Grachev took a comfortable win for the first round of the 2014 ADAC Procar Series in Oschersleben, taking victory in his BMW 320si by a margin of almost a minute over his AMG team-mate Mikhail Stepanov.

The reigning Russian touring car champion crossed the line 50.6 seconds clear of his team-mate who has more experience in the series, having driven for many years for the Yaco Racing team in their Toyota Auris.

Franjo Kovac finished third overall and in the Division 1 class in his Besaplast-run MINI John Cooper Works car, just ahead of the Division 2 winner, Alexander Rambow’s ETH Tuning-run Peugeot 207.

Rambow also won the Division 2 class relatively safely ahead of his closest rival, team-mate Andreas Rinke in the older Citroën Saxo VTS.

Finishing third in class was Guido Thierfelder in the second of ETH Tuning’s Peugeot 207s, ensuring the Troisdorf-based squad secured all three positions on the Division 2 class podium

The first winner of the new Division 3 class for MINI Challenge cars was Steve Kirsch, driving for Frensch Power Motorsport. The 34-year-old crossed the line just four seconds ahead of Besaplast’s Thomas Tekaat, with Besaplast Dombek’s Henry Littig securing the final spot on the D3 podium.

The second and final race of the weekend takes place at 13:35 CET on Sunday.
