Thomas Tekaat wins in the rain in Zandvoort
Besaplast Racing Team’s Thomas Tekaat won the fourth round of the 2014 ADAC Procar Series in his Division 3 class MINI John Cooper Works, finishing five seconds ahead of Saturday’s race winner Heiko Hammel.
Tekaat’s win was his third consecutive victory in the Division 3 class for MINI Challenge cars, newly added to the series this year and the first time a car from outside of the top tier Division 1 class has won a race.
Hammel finished second overall in his Division 1 class Ford Fiesta 1.6 Turbo by Wolf Racing, with his closest class rival the MINI of Reinhard Nehls, who finished fifth overall.
Alexander Rambow continued to dominate in the Division 2 class for S1600 cars, taking his fourth consecutive victory in the ETH Tuning Peugeot 207 Sport, and now leads team-mate Andreas Rinke by 15 points.
Hammel leads in the Division 1 standings with 30 points, taking the maximum possible score in the class of 20 this weekend, and is just four points clear of Reinhard Nehls. Previous points leader Mikhail Grachev has fallen to fourth, not present this weekend as he was at the Slovakiaring for the ETCC, where he took his first win in the TC2T class.
Thomas Tekaat leads the Division 3 standings on 38 points, with Kai Jordan 12 points behind.
The next round of the series is on 24th-25th May at the Lausitzring.
