Two wins for Andreas Pfister re-ignites his SMT challenge
After a disastrous first round of the ETCC three weeks ago in Paul Ricard, when the German’s SEAT León suffered broken suspension at the end of the first lap after contact with Mikhail Grachev’s BMW, the Single-Make Trophy driver took a pair of wins on Sunday and launches back up the standings in the class.
Pfister had claimed pole position in the SEAT León Supercopa on Saturday, and took two race wins, finishing just ahead of Dmitry Bragin’s SMP Russian Bears run car in both races, crossing the line less than a second ahead of him in race two, while Finland’s Aku Pellinen, who had a strong weekend in France with two victories, struggled at the Slovakiaring, taking two fifth place finishes in the class
“It’s great for me, because it’s also a hat-trick as I’ve now won every race here since 2012. I have to say thanks to my team and to SEAT Sport as I had a very competitive car all throughout the weekend,” said Pfister after the race.
“In the first race we could attack, but in the second race we struggled a little, but we have to keep concentrating as we have to keep collecting points, points and points. Next is Austria, it’s nearly my home race, so I hope we can do it again.”
