Andy Priaulx to mentor ETCC driver Kaan Önder

Triple WTCC champion Andy Priaulx is going to mentor Turkish driver Kaan Önder for the remaining 2014 FIA European Touring Car Cup races.
“When I met Kaan I recognised the same sort of passion for the sport that I had at his age. Motorsport has been my life for many years, so I was delighted when he asked if I would help guide him as he sets out on a path that can be tricky at times,” said Priaulx.

”I still have the burning desire to do well in the sport and, as a professional driver, I hope to guide him through some of the pitfalls.”

Önder has previously raced karts and Formula BMW and is just 17 years old. He races for Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport in the 2014 ETCC season with a BMW 320si and is currently ninth overall in the TC2 category with seventh as best race result.

“The opportunity to have advice from someone who has such a knowledge of the sport both present and past and is still competing at the very highest level is a dream for me. I want to emulate Andy by moving from the ETCC to the World Touring Car Championship. I can think of no better way to start with such an experienced driver’s knowledge and in such a fantastic car,” said Önder.

Önder’s next ETCC race will be at legendary Spa-Francorchamps on June 22nd.
