Markus Huggler wins first race at Red Bull Ring

Markus Huggler claimed the overall victory in the first ADAC Procar race of the weekend at Red Bull Ring in Austria.

Huggler was the sole S2000 specification driver in Division 1 with his BMW 320i E46 and crossed the finishing line just below 12 seconds ahead of Heiko Hammel in his Ford Fiesta. Hammel had taken the lead in the start of the race, but Huggler retook the lead shortly after and was happy to win as he had health problems the day before.

“I had severe problems with my circulation and I am very happy that I was able to finish the race without any major problems and even as the overall winner,” said Huggler.

Reinhard Nehls finished third in Division 1 for Team Dombek, driving a Mini Cooper, 16 seconds behind the leader.

Division 2 saw a hard fight between Nils Mierschke and Andreas Rinke for the entire race over second place. Alexander Rambow took the lead in the start and kept it for the whole race to take victory in his Peugeot 207.

Steve Kirsch dominated Division 3, which only consists of Mini drivers, and won the race ahead of Thomas Tekaat and Kai Jordan.
