Steve Vanbellingen and David Dermont to share VW Golf in TCR Benelux
Former Belgian Touring Car Series drivers Steve Vanbellingen and David Dermont will race in the new-for-2016 TCR Benelux Series, driving one of Milo Racing’s two Volkswagen Golf TCR’s in the new championship.
The team plans to run two cars in the new series, according to a report from Belgian website Turbo Magazine, and was originally targeting running the new Opel Astra TCR, before making the switch to the Golf TCR, which debuted in the TCR International Series last year, run by Liqui Moly Team Engstler.
“I greatly believe in TCR Benelux, because it’s a championship that really brings together the best riders of our country,” said BTCS race winner Vanbellingen. “We needed such an initiative, and now in the middle of the off-season there’s already a well-filled grid.”
TCR Benelux will feature four races per weekend, and allows two drivers to compete in the same car in a split qualifying and race format, enabling drivers to share the running costs of the cars.
