Heiko Hammel encores in Oschersleben
Heiko Hammel made his Oschersleben weekend perfect after winning again in Race 2. The Ford driver finished ahead of Reinhard Nehls’ Mini and Kia’s Thomas Winkelhock. Fredrik Lestrup’s nightmare continued as he once again failed to start due to turbo issues.
Hammel’s job was made easier by Milenko Vukovic and Alexander Rambow, who started from the front row but were penalised for a jump start. This paved the way for the Ford driver to win again after yesterday’s success.
In the P2 class Konrad Motorsport’s driver Pavel Lefterov completely dominated the race, finishing some 32 seconds ahead of second-placed Heiko Fulsche. Thomas Fulsche completed the podium for the Volkswagen Scirocco Cup cars.
The P1 class saw a much closer fight for the win, With Dominique Shaak finishing ahead of Victoria Fross after an entertaining duel between the two. Dirk Lauth had an accident at the start with Lefterov, which prevented him from having a shot at the win.
Heiko Hammel now has a comfortable lead in the championship, 21 points ahead of Milenko Vukovic and a further two over Lestrup.
The series will now move to the Red Bull Ring for the race on July 24th.
