Petr Fulín takes over at the top in ETCC Testing 2 at Imola

Joint-championship leader Petr Fulín was fastest of all in Testing 2, after his arch rival Kris Richard had topped the first test at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari.

Krenek Motorsport SEAT driver Fulín’s best lap of 1:52.407 was half a second faster than Richard had achieved in the first test session just an hour earlier in his Rikli Motorsport Honda Civic TCR.

In the second test, Richard had dropped to third fastest, with second place now going to Macedonia’s Igor Stefanovski in the ASK LEIN Racing SEAT León, who was just over a tenth away from Fulín’s best.

The gaps increased drastically outside of the top three, with Fulín’s team-mate Christjohannes Schrieber fourth in his Krenek SEAT León, 1.7 seconds from his Czech colleague’s time, with ETCC returnee Aku Pellinen fifth in the Rikli Motorsport Honda Civic, less than a tenth further back.

Behind the top 12 TCN2 class cars in the Super 2000 Trophy, Tomas Koreny was the fastest of the Super 1600 Cup class competitors in his Ravenol Ford Fiesta, with just three of the smaller class taking to the track in the 30-minute session.

The next session for the ETCC is the official free practice session at 13:30 on Saturday.
