Colmarberg results revised, while Opel appeal qualifying race penalty

The points after the most recent round of the TCR Benelux series race at Colmarberg have revised after the organisers decided to award full-points for the final race, even though it was shortened to six laps after a crash at the start.

The race was predominantly run behind the safety car when Team WRT’s Stefano Comini was squeezed at the first chicane and crashed into the Milo Racing Volkswagen Golf of Vincent Radermecker, with the race red flagged after five laps behind the safety car.

Half-points were initially awarded, but this has now been revised to full points, with the DG Sport Opel pair of Pierre-Yves Corthals and Frédéric Caprasse now scoring 25 points for their victory and close to 58.5 points of championship leader Stéphane Lémeret in the Boutsen-Ginion Racing Honda Civic TCR.

Corthals and Caprasse had lost out on a second-place finish in the qualifying race after they were handed a post-race penalty, and with double points on offer for the one-hour race, this could prove vital in the championship. The DG Sport Compétition team have appealed the penalty and are seeking to have their second place reinstated, which would reduce the gap in the standings to just 36 points, with 200 on offer during the last two race meetings at Assen and Mettet.

Lémeret has had no stable co-driver during the first four race meetings, with other Honda drivers joining him at every weekend, including Tiago Monteiro, Norbert Michelisz, Matt Neal and newly-crowned ETCC champion Kris Richard. Lémeret’s co-drivers for the last two meetings have not yet been confirmed.
