Renaud Kuppens wins Race 1 for Boutsen-Ginion Honda at TT Assen

Renaud Kuppens won the first race of the day at Circuit TT Assen in his Boutsen-Ginion Racing Honda Civic, beating Team WRT’s Sam Dejonghe by over five seconds.

The Belgian led the way from pole position in his Honda Civic TCR ahead of Dejonghe’s RACB Club-backed SEAT León TCR, while Maxime Potty worked his way from last to finish third, taking the final spot on the podium with a strong drive in his WRT Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR.

Meindert van Buuren, making his TCR Benelux series debut, finished fourth in his Bas Koeten Racing-run SEAT, with Michael Verhagen fifth in the Honda Art Car run by Boutsen-Ginion.

The two main championship contenders both posted moderate results, with championship leader Stéphane Lémeret finishing in eighth position in his Boutsen-Ginion Honda Civic, while Frédéric Caprasse picked up just a single point with tenth in the DG Sport Opel Astra.

All 12 cars made the finish and will start Race 2 from the positions in which they finished Race 1.
