Opel win Colmarberg appeal – close in on championship fight

DG Sport Opel have won their appeal against their ten second time penalty from the Qualifying Race at Colmarberg, moving them back up to second in the results of the race, and closing them up in the championship ahead of this weekend’s finale.

Frédéric Caprasse, co-driving with Pierre-Yves Corthals at the Luxembough circuit, had received the penalty for a pit lane violation, but upon investigation, the court of appeal have upheld DG Sport’s protest and restored their second place in the result behind Team WRT’s Maxime Potty and Stefano Comini, after originally being relegated to sixth.

As a result, Corthals and Caprasse now close to within 55.5 points over Boutsen-Ginion Honda driver Stéphane Lémeret ahead of this weekend’s season finale at Circuit Jules Tacheny near Mettet, with 150 points still available.
