Norbert Michelisz and Stéphane Lémeret on pole at Mettet

Boutsen-Ginion Racing pair Norbert Michelisz and Stéphane Lémeret have secured pole position for tomorrow’s qualifying race at Circuit Jules Tacheny de Mettet, after Michelisz set the fastest lap in the qualifying window, with the pair also winning the fan vote.

The combined fan vote combined with the times from the last 15 minutes of practice sets the grid for the 60-minute double-points qualifying race.

Team WRT driver Sam Dejonghe was second fastest in the SEAT León TCR, over half a second down, with Pierre-Yves Corthals, Lémeret’s main threat in the championship, third fastest in the DG Sport Opel Astra.

Vincent Radermecker, driving for Milo Racing, was the fastest of the Volkswagen Golfs in fourth, ahead of the WRT Golf of Maxime Potty, who shares with Grégoire Demoustier this weekend.

The fast lap window part of practice was red flagged with less than five minutes to go after an off for the Alfa Romeo Giuilietta of Fabio Marchiafava and Philippe Menage, with the Renga Charleroi on Tracks team pair setting the 12th fastest time, over three seconds down.

No time was set by the other Boutsen-Ginion Honda of Renaud Kuppens.

The Peugeot 308 of Aurélien Comte was ninth fastest on its TCR Benelux debut, the the team run by Peugeot Belgique Luxembourg, however after finishing tenth in the fan vote, they will be demoted to 11th for the start of the race.

The practice results, combined with the series’ Facebook vote, place Michelisz and Lémeret on pole, with the Team WRT Volkswagen of Grégoire Demoustier and Maxime Potty second, with the Opel of Corthals and Frédéric Caprasse third.

The qualifying race, where the fastest laps of which will set the grids for the odd numbered sprint races, takes place at 9:25 CET.
