Bas Koeten Racing confirms drivers for its two-car Audi campaign

Bas Koeten Racing has outlined its campaign for the 2017 TCR Benelux series season, with two Audi RS 3 LMSs being run by the Dutch squad with backing from The Netherlands’ ASN, the KNAF.

With the sporting authority’s support, the team has opted for a young driver line-up, with 16-year-old Mika Morien paired up with 19-year-old Stan van Oord in the first Audi, while Willem Meyer, 17 years old, will drive the second car with his co-driver still to be confirmed.

“I have tried different cars in recent years,” sid Mika. “Including Formula Renault. However, I clearly decided to direct my career towards touring cars. With the new Audi in TCR Benelux, I hope not only to finish on some podiums in the overall standings, but also claim the title among the juniors.”

“I competed in a race of the SEAT Leon Eurocup as guest last year and it went very well,” said Morien’s co-driver van Oord. “TCR Benelux is the ideal platform for me because we have two drivers per car and we visit five different circuits.”

The team will test ahead of the season opener at Spa-Francorchamps on April 22nd-23rd.

“As a team, we find it fantastic to mentor these three young talents in TCR Benelux,” said team principal Bas Koeten.

“They all have the potential to beat this competition. With the new Audi RS 3 LMS we have the top equipment and we have some experience with TCR-specification cars because we have competed in practically 500 hours in both sprint and endurance races.”
